Change and Improve


This summer, I have been working on improvements to my lifting program.  There are things that I need to do better, tweaks if you will. When I attended Matt Wennings Strength Seminar about a year and a half ago, he said to throw out all the stuff you are good at, and do what you suck at, in order to get better.  Which of my lists is longer?? Hey, I’m working on it! The point to all this is that you should be ready to make changes, and look for assistance with your program when you need it.


There are a number of ways to improve when it comes to fitness.  For me, that includes a look at the Instagram folks that I follow.  Two of my favorites are;

  • Shameless_Strength_Academy (Coach Lana Sova)

  • Realmattwenning (Coach Matt Wenning)


I also follow the Carolina Panthers on Instagram ( because I think I played football in another life). I get many good tips for program improvement, and those tips lead me to further research and program development.  


Motivation to workout has never been an issue for me. It has always been to get better, whether it is to run longer, swim faster, or lift more weight. I love to go to training with coaches who are going to help me  improve, and not just beat me down without giving me the tools I need. And I have had training with both. Bottom line, work with someone who is actually looking for you to succeed. So many people workout with a coach/trainer and end up injured, or frustrated, because the coach was not listening to what that particular person needed. There is no reason for that because a good coach/trainer will give you a program to suit your needs.


Stay motivated and keep improving. Never give up on yourself!
