I have a C5/6 spinal cord injury and have been training with Kate over 8 years. With her unique set of skills, having a Physical Therapy background and her physical training knowledge, she provides an innovative service for people with and without disabilities - something that I've never seen before.
I can be prone to injuries due to overuse of my arms. Kate has helped me to stay injury-free while at the same time, maintained my strength and flexibility without causing further problems. Also, her creativity keeps our sessions interesting and well-rounded.
I would and have absolutely recommended her to others!

    K.A. - Osteogenesis Imperfecta

How long have you worked with Kate? How did you initially hear about her?

I have been working with Kate since November of 2014.

Regarding your fitness and health goals, has Kate helped you move towards and even achieve any of them?

After nearly 3 years of working with her I have more physical strength and mobility that has been most helpful with the lesser accessibility of my new apartment and when I travel places that are less user friendly. I can walk and stand more readily which is a great help. Plus I am now walking with a walker throughout my apartment which has been an ultimate goal since we began working together. And, the app I use for dietary purposes has been most beneficial in staying within my calorie count and being more mindful of what I eat.

What do you like best about the sessions or Kate's style of training?

What do you like best about our sessions or my style of training?
I like that we shake it up a bit so it does not become dry or too routine. I have different styles of exercise to perform daily and I include cardio and walking into the mix. So it's an eclectic array of exercises to keep things interesting throughout the week. Plus, we always come up with new routines too so that shakes things up as well.

Would you recommend Kate to friends, family, coworkers, etc?

I most definitely would. And what's great about Kate is that she works with people with and without disabilities so that opens more doors and opportunities for clients and for people of all abilities to have the experience of working out with a trainer.

I am a 58 year old female and a C6-7 quadriplegic. I was noticing, as I aged, that I was becoming weaker and gaining some weight. So I knew I needed to do something. I had heard about Kate from a mutual friend who had been working out with Kate for a few years and loved her. So I thought I would give Kate a try. BEST decision I could have made! We have been training for almost 3 years now. I have lost weight AND gone down two sizes in my clothes! But more importantly, I am definitely stronger. What I love most about working out with Kate is that she makes it fun. She is very innovative and able to adapt our workouts specifically for my abilities. Kate is a phenomenal trainer and I highly recommend her to anyone (disabled or not)!!

I was born with a very rare brittle bone condition called Osteogenesis Imperfecta, and I use a wheelchair for mobility. I met Kate over a year ago. At that time, I had three friends with disabilities that had been working with her and had nothing but the best comments about how she was helping them improve their lives. With my bone condition, I was reluctant, but started working with her anyway a month or so later. I must say that Kate has really helped me increase strength and mobility in my upper body, which is very helpful for daily functioning. Plus, I just plain feel better! Although I have had OI-related setbacks the last 6 weeks, which Kate has been safely and knowledgeably working around, she has continued to work within my limitations and build on my strengths. What I like most about Kate is that she is interested in the person as a whole. She gathers lots of information about her clients so that she fully understands their lives and their goals. She works slowly within the limitations of her client, gradually increasing expectations. She listens. Even when I am discouraged during setbacks, she stays focused, and is extremely creative in adapting. She figures out ways to exercise the same group of muscles without aggravating those that need to rest. I highly recommend Kate to anyone, regardless of their ability or disability!
