Matt is a USATF and RRCA certified running coach and has been a runner for over 15 years and has done it all – 5Ks, 10Ks, Half-Marathons, Marathons and other distances in between. He is also the founder and head running coach at Runner Academy along with hosting Runner Academy Podcast, a top rated running podcast. He believes that no matter your level in the sport, running a personal best or achieving a goal is one of the greatest feelings you can experience. Matt’s philosophy is that running should not be centered around a one time event such as a marathon, but an ongoing part of a healthy active lifestyle. To accomplish this, runners should train their whole bodies, not just their legs. The best runners have not only leg speed and endurance but also solid core strength and upper body strength. Total body fitness leads to better race times and fewer injuries. Matt’s focus is on helping those newer to distance running build the confidence to not only complete the distances, but doing so injury free and faster than thought possible. He also specializes in helping those that have been running for several years improve their times and crush their PRs. In developing training programs Matt continues to research the latest science and blends it with the practical experience of what brings success in the runners he works with. In addition to his work at Runner Academy, Matt also enjoys giving motivational talks to runners at race expos before the big day.
