I followed my father’s footsteps and began Tae Kwon Do when I was 3 years old. I earned my black belt in Tae Kwon Do and then continued on with Ed Parker’s Kenpo System where I also earned my black belt. I then reached the level of 5th degree black belt in both systems. I went off to college and graduated with a B.S. in Exercise Physiology and then returned home to help with the family martial arts school. I have taught professional and amateur MMA, boxing, kickboxing, karate and personal training for over 20 years. I fell in love with Jiu Jitsu one weekend traveling with his female pro boxer to St. Louis. During a workout session I met one of the Red Power Rangers who was a guest of the event. He asked me if I wanted to roll and I was skeptical about this jiu jitsu stuff. I was amazed after just a few minutes of rolling and started training with Carlos Machado, nephew of Carlos and Helio Gracie, the creators of Gracie/Brazilian jiu jitsu. I received my blue belt from Carlos Machado and continued training but kept hearing the name Eddie Bravo, the rubber guard and the twister. I wanted to know more about it. One weekend in Las Vegas at the UFC, I ran into Eddie Bravo and asked him about coming to Texas for a seminar to learn more about his system. I was hooked. I then started training the 10th Planet JJ system and teaching it at my gym, Fight Time Fitness. In February 2010, I received my purple belt from Eddie Bravo and launched 10th Planet Sherman, Tx. In 2007 I was introduced to CrossFit by UFC Fighter Paul Buentello. He told me that it was the best workout he has done to get him in competitive shape. In August 2008 I received my CrossFit Level 1 Certification. I now incorporates the movements and workouts with my MMA program. I teach every day to all ages and levels and have a competitive team that demonstrates mad skills at every competition.
