So its official, I am 11 weeks pregnant. I am also 40 years old. My doc wants me to continue to exercise but keep my heart rate from getting crazy high...like not over 140 bpms. Wow, really? I mean, in Turbo Kick my heart rate can easily get to 150 in the warm up. I sub both Turbo Kick and Cycling for 24 Hour Fitness, neither being low intensity classes. So I have asked for a leave of absence since I won't be able to sub those classes for a while. And Turbo Kick is my sole mate workout.
I have been dealing with nausea for about a month now - its bad all day long. My doc gave me a prescription antacid to take and that helps only sometimes. It's hard to even walk around the grocery store with my stomach going crazy, let alone to deliberatly try to work out. So I took about 4 weeks off from any working out. This week I had 2 workouts - both included walking on the treadmill and short weight lifting session. I find walking on the treadmill dreadful. I miss my HITT, Turbo Kick and cycling workouts. But I have to do what is best now for the little one growing inside me. I also think this will be a good time for me to become more familiar with yoga. Time to try something a little different.
