Last January, I blogged about running my first half marathon. I toyed with the idea throughout this year of doing another, and even tried to talk my husband into joining me. I totally forgot about running again, until 2 weeks ago when he asked if I am planning on running the Rock n Roll in Tempe in January. Because if I am he said, he'll do it with me. Well, even though it was not on my mind- I *gasp* fibbed and said "well yes of course!" So now we are training together.
Last year I took the leap by myself, for myself. This year, he's taking the leap and I will be running right next to him. We went to the running store and got him fitted for the right shoe, and he came home yesterday with Runner's World magazine under his arm. It's official, my bodybuilding "I hate running, running is stupid" husband is officially a runner. After January 15th he will be a marathoner.
Take the leap- think of the craziest thing you could do- physically or otherwise- and do it. Once you push yourself over that hurdle and cross that virtual (or actual) finish line, you have a new outlook on life. I promise. I'll leave you with one of my favorite quotes.....
Come to the edge, he said.
They said: We are afraid.
Come to the edge, he said.
They came.
He pushed them and they flew.”
-Guillaume Apollinaire
