Fall is nearly here! Vacation is over. You have been neglecting your workouts! Time to get with it! Have you heard of the FAST Program?
F stands for FUN! Your fitness activity needs to be fun, so you are motivated to do it! Dance, hike, walk, climb, lift, stretch, MOVE! at least 3 times a week for 30 minutes (Both the American Heart Association and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention concur on this!).
A stands for ACCESSABLE! You need to make your favorite fitness activities convenient. If your Zumba class requires you drive 2 hours in rush hour traffic, you may want to reconsider another one closer to your home or work!
S stands for SCHEDULE it! Nothing good in your life that you work hard for comes by accident! Make a plan and do your plan! Pull out your planner and fill in those 3 times a week! And don't cancel!
T stands for TERRIFIC! You are going to feel terrific when you show up for your 3 fun fitness sessions a week! Sleep will improve, endorphins will flow, and you could even loose a few of those pounds you put on from your vacation!
Let us all celebrate our health and fitness! I had so much fun this morning working out with my friend Melissa in the gym where she works in Alhambra. We did a really intense weight lifting session and got all pumped up! What a super way to start the weekend! Let us all remember how the discipline of eating healthfully, moving more and S-T-R-E-T-C-H-I-N-G really enhances the quality of our daily lives! I am so happy to share my passion for fitness with everyone I meet! Let us enjoy each and every moment! Dorothy Waterman, email@example.com 626 818 0241 dorothywaterman.com
As a little girl, I envisioned myself as a prima ballerina! Although quite tall and gawky, I thought I was made to dance. I studied ballet at the very serious ballet school of Adelaide K. Hutton six days a week. At the age of 5 I was twrilling around the house in my full slip, my arms over my head, totally enthralled with the thrill of my graceful moves to the music. Every two years the Examiner from the Royal Academy of Ballet came all the way from England to our ballet school to give us an EXAMINATION and watch us perform our ballet syllabus where we were graded and judged. It was very unnerving! But, those exams did not ruin my love of dance! I loved to dance so much, I wanted to share it with everyone I knew! I choreographed my own version of the Sugar Plum Fairy and taught it to a few of my very good second grade classmates. We performed it for our school Christmas Show! I studied ballet for 13 years, Modern Dance for 5 years, Salsa, ballroom, even tap dance! Dancing is my first love! Fast forward to today: I get to teach ZUMBA! Yes, I can live out my life long goal of leading a group of people, all different ages and sizes in a really fun and happy environment.! We have so much fun dancing and sweating to the hypnotic beat of the Latin inspired music! It is a fantastic way to exercise, even if you are uncoordinated! Zumba is stress relieving, upbeat, invigorating and downright addictive! You can join me at Cal Tech every Tuesday at 6pm as my guest! Please email me for more information! I want to share with you my love for dance, my passion for movement, and all of the enthusiasm I have for fitness!
