Medicinal marijuana is highly controversial at the moment. There are so many that are against it while others will praise the fact that it offers pain relief when suffering from many illnesses. The truth is that people are much more concerned with being charged with marijuana possession than the benefits that are offered. What is interesting is that laws are changing and there is an increase in the people that start to use marijuana as possible cures or pain reliever.
Various studies were made about the medicinal properties of marijuana. During these studies different healing properties were identified. The illnesses below have been proven to benefit from the use of medicinal marijuana.
Marijuana’s active components are cannabinoids. They have been shown to kill cancer cells and inhibit the growth of tumors. The main psychoactive part of cannabis, THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) will target the cannabinoid receptors in a similar way to endocannabinoids. Basically, cannabidiol can switch off genes responsible for cancer metastasis. In many cases cannabis was used to treat various cancer forms from melanoma to brain cancer.
Much evidence is now available showing that the cannabinoid compounds will offer anti-convulsant properties. With children there are some highly interesting studies that showed the effectiveness of marijuana elements for epilepsy cases. That is because marijuana actually negates seizures from happening. Neruo-excitation is modulated. In many situations we see patients that can get rid of the prescription drugs while not having to deal with seizures because they had access to a cannabis supply on a regular basis.
Cannabidiol (CBD) was proven to treat symptoms that are MS-like. This is done because immune cells are prevented from mutating and then attacking insulating nerve cell covers in the user’s spinal cord. Some studies on mice showed that the MS-like condition was improved with cannabinoids injections. Spinal cord inflammation is basically drastically less inflamed. The impact on slowing multiple sclerosis quickly became visible. However, with MS it is important to detect at early stages. This is what helps find success through medicinal marijuana treatment.
THC was proven to be extremely effective when looking at slowing down beta amyloid formation. This is the plaque that will form in patients suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. The plaque is responsible for cognitive function reduction. THC will continually lower the levels of beta amyloid in users.
Obviously, we are faced with a lot of controversy that surrounds the use of marijuana. There are different athletes that admit to using it to recover after some tough matches. This is especially true for fighters. When looking at the illnesses that could be positively impacted by the use of medicinal marijuana, controversy appears because not many studies are available for some of the conditions. Even with the cancer example above there are some types of cancer that will not benefit from the use of medicinal marijuana.
More studies are necessary but you have to be sure that you keep an eye out for them since they are constantly covered by worldwide medical publications.
Most people focus on using the very best face lotions and many other skin care products in order to deal with the natural results of aging. As time passes it is completely normal to do this but what few people realize is there are many homemade options that have to be considered. In fact, homemade routines are normally better when used first. Only after some time the harsher products have to be taken into account. If you want to start with something natural first, here are some tips that are very effective from Beauty Boutique LA beauty specialists.
Using Antioxidants Soon In Life
The anti-aging routine should not start when there are many wrinkles present and you already have your skin quite damaged. The idea is to always focus on aging prevention. A powerful antioxidant offered in topical form is always a great idea. You should use this under the makeup or during the night at early ages. It is never too early to start preventing the effects of aging.
Eliminate Harsh Skin Care Products
The most important thing for most people is to eliminate the harsh ingredients like glycolic acids and toxic retinols. These are really bad since they are going to damage skin. That is especially the case in the event you are exposed to UV rays from the sun. At the same time, sensitive skin can be irritated. Most people have sensitive skin under the eyes so you can figure out exactly how damaging can this be.
Washing Your Face
Most people just wash their face when they wake up. This is not actually enough. You should always be sure that you wash the face during nighttime, before you go to bed. That will remove the free radicals that were accumulated because of exposure to dirt and smog. During the night your skin is going to restore itself. It is never a good idea to let the skin without protection so wash it before sleep.
One of the very best things that you can do is to use skin care products that do not include parabens. They should be as organic and natural as possible. Using the healthier choices is a great idea since the chemicals and fillers associated with parabens are going to cause the appearance of breakouts and irritation.
Use Eye Cream
Most people do not know how different skin under the eyes is than other parts of the body. Remember that this is an area that is highly used as the day passes. It is fragile and requires specific extra care. You should include eye cream in your daily skin care routine. Focus on those that include malic acid coming from apple juice. This is great since it is a really effective, mild exfoliator. It basically helps to get rid of some dead skin that is present in this delicate eye area.
Read The Labels
The last thing we should say is that you have to be sure you know every single ingredient that is included in the skin care product you use. If it is not healthy, you have to avoid it.
If you are about to enter a residential drug or alcohol treatment program, then you might be under the impression that you are in for several weeks of uninterrupted work. While you will certainly be faced with many challenges, most care providers agree that recreation is an essential component of a successful rehabilitation program. In addition to medical and psychological treatments, your rehab facility should offer you the opportunity to participate in a variety of fun activities.
Why Is It Important?
What makes downtime such a critical part of inpatient drug rehabilitation? The answer is multifaceted. The people who enjoy the best long-term outcomes after treatment are usually those who manage to successfully alter their habits and lifestyles. To do this, it is almost always necessary to adopt new hobbies in new settings. When rehabilitation programs offer numerous activities, patients can develop appreciation for new pastimes, which they can continue to pursue once they go back to their regular lives.
Recreational activities also give program participants the chance to unwind from the stresses of recovery. Individual and group therapy will be part of your daily life, and while these are essential to rehabilitation, they are not always easy. After spending an hour working through difficult experiences with your therapist or mastering new mental exercises, it can be helpful to mull things over during a relaxing activity. This also reinforces the skill dealing of with negative feelings through constructive actions (participating in a fun hobby) instead of destructive ones (using drugs or alcohol).
Finally, being surrounded by your fellow residents will help you remember that you are not alone, even though you may feel like you are sometimes. The people who participate in activities with you will be going through similar struggles, and you can encourage each other throughout your time in treatment.
What Is There to Do?
The types of available activities vary depending on the program. Many facilities offer sports and other physical activities because physical exertion is not only a good way to combat stress, but it is also a helpful distraction from the desire to use illicit substances. Other programs organize weekly outings to fun activities like bowling and laser tag.
If you find solace in quieter activities, you will probably have access to painting classes or book clubs. You may also be allowed to attend religious services if you wish. Most programs build personal time into the daily routine, so you should have the opportunity to write in a journal, read books, or simply reflect on your journey. Some programs also allow their residents to accept visits from family members at scheduled times throughout the week.
Achieving Lasting Success
Recovering from substance abuse addiction is a strenuous process, which is why it is important to build relaxation into your routine. From the day you enter your treatment facility until the day you move out, you will learn new ways to occupy your thoughts and your time. The lessons you will learn while participating in recreational programs can help you achieve success both in the present day and in the years to come.
If you’re one of the people who often experience back pain, you might consider not panicking and rushing to the ER for once. Statistically, people who rush to get extreme treatment are more likely to experience other complications than those who don’t. At the same time, 90% of the back pain issues are over in around 6 weeks, so there is hope for you. But how to deal with serious back pain?
- Take a pill.
Obviously, the first thing you can do is to take a pill. The best pill to take in such a moment is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory one, like ibuprofen or naproxen, in translation Motrin, Advil or Aleve. They will certainly ease your pain and make you feel better quite quickly. Research has shown that these are more effective than acetaminophen, which is found in Tylenol. However, don’t take them more than 10 days unless your doctor says so!
- Alternate hot and cold.
In the first two days when you are experiencing severe pain, use ice packs (or bags of frozen peas, if you prefer) for 20 minutes at a time, several times a day. After that, you have to replace the ice with a heating pad. The reason here is the fact that the cooling turns off the capillaries, thus reducing the blood flow to the area and, consequently, the swelling. On the other hand, heat loosens your tight muscles and brings more blood to the area with the much-needed oxygen.
- Use the right mattress.
If you know you’re experiencing often back pains, then you should think about replacing that old mattress. A medium-firm mattress is ideal for a sensitive back, instead of a firm one. If you have one that is sagging or is more than 8 years old, then you should head out and buy a new one for your own health. Thankfully, there are lots of options on the market, so you have where to choose from.
- Get massages.
Massages are a great idea of preventing and alleviating back pain. Whether you ask your significant other to help you with them or go to a specialist, studies have shown they are particularly useful. It’s an excellent idea to go to a specialist and to follow osteopathic and chiropractic therapies in specialized centers. One example of such a useful center would be the Icon Medical Centers, for instance.
Though it may seem harsh, exercising is actually a good idea for your back. It will strengthen your muscles and stabilize the spine. Don’t overdo it, or you might cause even more pain! Start slowly, with gentle moves and short walking sessions paired with some stretching.
We now use our eyes much more than how we used to. The strain that is put on them is quite high since we use eyes to read and stare at small images on TV, cell phones and computer screens. Many things lead to eye fatigue. As time passes and we age, eye problems are bound to appear. Having diminished eyesight is something that appears because of some bad choices we make. Fortunately, we can also make some good choices. There are different things every single person can do in order to improve vision. While visiting specialists like Point Grey Eyecare is always a good idea, we can also focus on natural vision improvement. The tips below can help much more than what you may think.
Eating For Improved Vision
Eyes need so many nutrients in order to optimally function. While many things can be said, here are those you should always take into account:
· Vitamins A, C and E + minerals (zinc and copper) – all these are essential for good eyesight.
· Antioxidants (beta-carotene as the best example, although zexanthin and lutein are also important) will protect macula from potential sun damage. You can easily get such antioxidants from egg yolks, pumpkins, yellow peppers, carrots, sweet potatoes and dark leafy greens. Keep in mind that eating green and yellow vegetables does prevent macular generation that is age related.
· Consume foods that are rich in cysteine, lecithin and sulfur – they protect eye lens from the formation of cataract. Make sure you eat onions, capers, shallots and garlic.
· Goji berries, grapes and blueberries are anthocyanin-rich and they have various anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties to help improve one’s vision.
· DHA – this is a very useful fatty acid you find in coldwater fish. The best options are mackerel, salmon, cod and sardines. DHA is important since it protects cell membrane and boosts vision.
Eye exercises are highly useful in maintaining an optimal vision. Eye floaters are avoided and the great thing about the exercises is that they do not take that much time. In most situations you just need to do some before you go to bed or in the morning. Examples include:
· Warm the eyes – simply rub palms together and then put the hands on your eyes for around 5 seconds.
· Roll eyes – Just look up and slowly circle the sight ten times counterclockwise and ten times clockwise.
· Focusing – Take a pen and put it at arm length. Focus eyes on the pen. Slowly bring your pen closer and then away.
· Temple message – The thumb knuckles can easily be used to massage temples in a small circle movement pattern. This also relaxes you so you can do it if you are feeling stressed.
Rest And Relaxation
One of the best things you can do for your eyes is to let them rest when they are tired. Also, you want to be sure you get enough sleep throughout the day. Vision will always be weakened if you do not get enough sleep. Sleeping for around 8 hours per night is definitely something that you want to see happen.
Porcelain veneers are dental products that are used in dental treatments to solve various teeth issues. Problems like worn enamel, abnormal spacing, cracks, chips and uneven tooth alignment can all be resolved with veneers. Although getting porcelain veneers is one of the more expensive dental treatments a person can receive, patients believe the cost justifies their increased self-confidence, and believe that the benefits outweigh the risks.
If you have decided that this is the best solution to address your dental problems so you can have a better looking smile, you should expect to visit your dentist at least three times before the process is completed. During the first trip, the dentist will diagnose the problem and create a treatment plan. When you visit your dentist for the second time, he or she will begin to prepare the selected teeth for the porcelain veneers. The last trip will involve the permanent bonding of the veneers to the teeth.
The dentist will likely recommend a follow up visit after a few weeks so the dentist will be able to see how your gums are responding to the veneers.
If you have never had porcelain veneers, there are several factors you should be aware of that may affect the application process of this treatment to the affected teeth.
The Fullness and Shape of Your Lips
When veneers are applied to your teeth, they can change the comfort or appearance of your lips and the way they move. For those who have thinner lips, you may notice that the veneers scratch or scrap your lips. This can cause discomfort. You will need to ask your dentist any questions you may have about this issue so you will fully understand how the application of the veneers may alter the comfort and look of your lips.
The Size of the Affected Tooth/Teeth
This is another cosmetic factor that depends on the preference of the patient. For example, some patients prefer that their two front teeth are slightly longer than the other teeth, while others prefer that all of their teeth are completely aligned with each other. Be sure to discuss your preference with the dentist so you will have the smile you have always wanted.
Your Teeth’s Natural Color
Nothing will make your new smile scream ‘fake’ quicker than different shades of color on your teeth. Most dentists require that their patients undergo oral prophylaxis so the natural hue of the teeth can be determined. By doing this, the dentist will be able to apply this hue to the veneers. The veneers will look like they are the person’s natural teeth, and no one will know the difference.
The Shape of the Natural Teeth
Everyone’s teeth are uniquely shaped, they are like fingerprints. Even though your teeth may look similar to someone else’s, they really are not. Some teeth may be pointy and long, while others have a round shape. Teeth may also have a square shape. It is usually recommended that the veneers are shaped to match the general shape of the teeth. This will help to ensure a comfortable fit and a more natural appearance.
Porcelain veneers can dramatically improve your smile, confidence and even the way you chew your food. Discuss any concerns with the dentist beforehand so you will be satisfied with the end results.
Health experts preach the importance of exercise for a healthy lifestyle, but many Americans still don’t get enough physical activity. People give all sorts of reasons for why they can’t get the recommended 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity a week. However, some of these problems can be easily overcome, like looking good after a lunchtime workout if that’s the only time you can squeeze it in.
But there are common health problems that can make it legitimately more difficult to stick to an exercise routine. Luckily, there are ways to work around certain health problems and make exercise a part of your daily lifestyle.
Allergies can make exercising near impossible, even if you work out indoors. Symptoms like congestion, coughing and squeezing make it near impossible to get through even a simple exercise routine.
The best thing a person can do is understand the cause of the allergies. Allergic reactions can be caused by dozens of things. I recently found out from the experts at Moxie Pest Control that some insects can cause allergies. The problem can actually be twofold. Insects can decrease the air quality indoors, which has been linked to asthma and allergic reactions in the upper respiratory tract. Some people are also allergic to insects themselves.
If insects are the problem annual pest control measures can significantly cut down on the major causes of home-born allergic reactions. If you aren’t sure what causes your allergies schedule an appointment with an allergist or immunologist. They can conduct IgE skin tests to determine what you’re allergic to and possible solutions.
As you can imagine asthma can make vigorous physical activity a potentially dangerous situation, but most of the time exercising is perfectly fine. It’s all about choosing the right activity and managing your asthma with medication. A few good exercise options include:
· Leisurely biking
Walking is also highly beneficial for people with asthma. Get a pedometer or fitness band and wear it for a week to determine your daily step average. Now aim to walk double that number if you don’t get much physical activity. Work your way up to at least 10,000 steps a day.
Chronic back pain is much more common than many healthy people realize. It’s so common back pain is the number one cause of disability. At any given time upwards of 31 million Americans are experiencing back pain.
Working out with back pain can be very tricky. Like allergies, there are a wide variety of things that can cause back pain. There are also different types of back pain depending on the location and affected muscles. Some exercises could potentially make the pain worse, but the right ones can improve pain by strengthening the back muscles.
Be careful to only do low impact exercises that don’t overstretch the back muscles if you’re experiencing pain. Studies have shown it could also be beneficial to have spinal manipulation as a part of your non-pharmacologic treatment plan.
Arthritis is a painful condition that’s caused by inflammation in the joints. The pain can be so severe just walking around is a challenge. But there are a few very good reasons why people with arthritis should incorporate exercise whenever possible. Exercise can:
· Improve joint flexibility and strength
· Reduce inflammation
· Reduce joint pain
· Prevent weight gain
· Help maintain bone health
Water sports and aquatic exercise is a good option if you have arthritis. Activities like water aerobics are extremely low-impact and easy on the joints. However, you still get a good workout because of the resistance from the water.
People with psoriasis avoid exercise for two reasons: fear it may cause a flare up and not wanting to expose a lot of skin. The good news is with proper precautions exercise can actually help you manage psoriasis side effects. Doctors note that psoriasis increases cardiac risk, which exercise can improve. Exercise has also been shown to increase the effectiveness of psoriasis medication.
There are two keys to exercising with psoriasis: wear loose, breathable clothing and focus on moderate intensity exercises rather than vigorous activities that cause a lot of friction. If you do experience skin friction treat the area with a topical medication right away to avoid a flare up.
There are many health-conscious people who are aware of the fact that cycling is one of the simplest ways of remaining fit in your daily routine. Cycling also saves your money and helps the environment. Cycling is a low-impact form of exercise and hence it is easier on your joints than other high-impact aerobic activities. But despite being easy and fun to perform, it still allows you to get into shape.
The best advice given by experts is to ride at least 150 minutes every week in order to build your cardiovascular fitness. You could cycle to your workplace for a few days of the week and carry on with few short rides the rest of the week.
Here are few more reasons to take up cycling.
➢ You’ll get to your destination sooner
You can often reach your destination in half the time that you may take in a vehicle. Especially in one of the traffic congested US cities.
Tip: If you’re a serious cycler, try training with a bicycle power meter.
➢ You’ll get deeper sleep
When you ride your bike early in the morning, it may tire you in the short term but when you finally take to your pillow, you can be sure of getting a sound sleep. As per a research done by Stanford University School of Medicine, insomniacs were advised to cycle for 20-30 minutes every day as this took them half the time to fall asleep and their total sleep time also increased by an hour.
➢ You start looking younger
Regular cycling can safeguard your skin against the harmful impacts of UV radiation and it might reduce all signs of ageing. There is increased blood circulation through constant exercise and this process delivers nutrients and oxygen to the cells of the skin more rapidly and flushes toxins from your body. Cycling also optimises production of collagen which accelerates the healing process.
➢ Helps you live longer
Those who perform exercises regularly, have a considerably lower risk of cardiovascular diseases, the 2 forms of diabetes, all kinds of cancer, obesity and high blood pressure. The body gets extremely efficient in defending itself against illness bacteria and germs. It can even regenerate new cells sooner.
Therefore, if you’re eager to take care of your health without doing aerobics or other types of exercise, make sure you cycle to your workplace everyday. Reap the above mentioned benefits of cycling and help yourself stay fit.
Dogs have been known as ‘man’s best friend’ for decades, and there’s a good reason why – if you look after your dog, he will return the favor. Fiercely loyal and loving, dogs can lift your mood, cheer you up and give you something to live for. If you’re trying to improve your health and fitness, then who better to turn to for support than your loyal four-legged friend? Here’s how both you and your dog can get fit and improve your health together.
Dogs are great pets for anybody who wants to get fitter, as they require regular walking! So, taking your dog on longer walks or even letting them run alongside you as you jog or cycle will not only improve your health and fitness levels, but will be great exercise for your puppy, too! There are many fun ways to work out with your dog.
Cut Down on Treats:
When it comes to improving your health and fitness, cutting down on treats is something that both you and your dog can benefit from. More people than we realize are killing their pets with kindness, by giving them too many treats and perhaps even foods that they don’t realize are bad for them. As a dog owner, it can be difficult not to give into their big sad eyes, but remember that treats aren’t always good!
Dogs and humans may have different dietary requirements when it comes to what is good for them, but if you’re going on a fitness challenge with your pet, then it’s important to give them healthy, nutritious food as well. Whilst you should be eating leafy green vegetables, lean meats and other healthy sources of protein such as eggs, fish and legumes, you should ensure that your dog is eating healthy, safe food for pets that provides them with a balanced range of nutrition.
If you’ve decided that both you and your dog could do with shaping up a little, then staying hydrated has never been more important. Water is not only essential for humans to stay healthy and energized, it will also help to flush nasty toxins from your body, making it easier for you to improve your health, get fit, and lose weight. If you’re doing a lot of exercise, you’ll need to drink more water to replace that which is lost through sweating. Don’t forget that it’s essential your dog also has access to fresh, clean water always, especially during the summer months, when your pet will be in more danger of overheating.
Get Medical Advice:
If either you or your pet is seriously overweight, then you should seek medical advice before taking on any new weight loss or fitness program. Your doctor will be able to advise you on the best course of action to take, whilst if you’re worried about your dog’s weight, your veterinarian will point you in the right direction.

The world is filled with people of every age who set their fitness routine as a priority in their life. And they don’t all go to the gym. There’s no hard and fast rule that says fitness can only take place in a gym, and plenty of busy people get exercise and stay in shape without ever using weights.
But how do you find time to crank out even a quick fitness routine when you’re already committed to some big goals in your life, like running a startup or going to medical college?
Here are two simple tips you can use to include a fitness routine in your day as soon as tomorrow:
1. Be straight about the real reason you don’t have time
Not having time to exercise isn’t really about time. You just think it’s about time because you’ve been using the phrase, “I don’t have time” all of your life. But it’s really about priorities. And if you think you don’t have time to exercise, what’s really going on is that exercising just isn’t your priority. That doesn’t mean it’s wrong, it’s just the situation. And when you get straight with yourself and say, “exercising isn’t my priority,” if you’re serious about taking care of your health, you’ll get how silly that sounds and you’ll be more likely to make it a priority.
You can consciously choose your priorities
Priorities can change in a heartbeat if you let them. For example, if you turned on the TV right now and discovered that you won a $30 million Powerball jackpot, and you had to drive three hours to redeem your ticket, you wouldn’t care what time it was or what was on the rest of your “to-do” list for the day – you’d drop everything you were doing, rush out the door, and be on your way in minutes. And any exhaustion you were feeling prior to the phone call would disappear instantly. Why? Because your priorities shifted.
Until exercising becomes a priority, you’ll never do it because if you’re stuck with the belief, “I don’t have time,” whenever you do have time, you’ll still choose something else over exercising (because it’s not really about time).
How to make exercising a priority
Whatever becomes a priority in your life gets done. Whatever isn’t a priority in your life doesn’t get done. So if you want to start exercising, you need to make it a priority. And it’s not hard to do – you just have to make the choice and declare to yourself that exercising is a priority. Then, anything that isn’t a priority will drop away and as if by magic, you’ll have time to exercise.
2. Skip the gym and workout from home
It’s true that it takes a significant amount of time to get ready, drive to the gym, find parking, check in, find your machines, wait for machines, complete your workout, take a shower, and drive back home. By the time you’re done, three hours could pass. It’s very possible that your schedule absolutely does not allow for that kind of time.
So cut it short and workout from home. You don’t have to buy a bunch of machines and turn your garage into a home gym. You just have get a home fitness program like TapouT XT – a program that works your whole body with a focus on core strength, using MMA style moves that doesn’t require anything more than a mat and some bands.
Created and led by fitness expert Mike Karpenko, you’ll have all the motivation you need to finish because, as Mike will remind you, “to quit does not exist.”
Resistance bands are your friend
TapouT XT uses resistance bands that can be easily stuffed in a drawer. A lot of people make fun of resistance bands, but your body does not know the difference between resistance that comes from a band, your body weight, or weights. Your muscle responds to being overloaded – not the source of the overload. Resistance bands come in different strengths and can produce amazing results.
If you’re looking for more than overall fitness and want to get huge, check out P90X or Insanity. They require more equipment than TapouT XT, but include routines designed for bulking.
If that’s too extreme for you, try something lighter like yoga or simple aerobic DVDs from Walmart.
Choose to make exercise your priority
While you really might not have time to sit in other people’s sweat puddles, smelling odors you don’t recognize at the gym, that’s no reason to skip working out all together.
While there are plenty of good reasons you’re too busy to exercise, there are more good reasons to consciously shift your priorities so that you can include exercise in your day. All it takes is for you to choose exercise as a priority, and all those little things that take up your time every day will fall away to make room for your workout routine.
