Inner IDEA Chakra Odyssey

By Joy Keller

The best way I can cap off my experience at the Inner IDEA conference this year is to express the journey to wholeness with a mini odyssey through the chakras. It seems the best way to express the panoramic, parasympathetic retreat.

Using the seven main energy centers of the body as a guideline, here’s how the typical attendee might have experienced the 2012 Inner IDEA Conference:

Root chakra (Muladhara); associated with the color red.
As you arrive at La Quinta Resort & Spa you are gently hugged by the mountains in which you will be nestled for the next few days. Your cares and stresses remain a few miles behind you and little by little you settle into your feet, growing roots deep into the earth. You become grounded in the now and you feel the foundation that will help you expand, grow, learn and heal.

Sacral chakra (Swadhisthana); associated with the color orange.
After your first session you’re feeling more open, alive, passionate and creative. You tap into your true feelings and give them freedom to breathe in this safe space. Maybe you find your organic movement in a GYROKINESIS® session or decide to go with the flow and try a class you’d never dare try at home.

Solar Plexus chakra (Manipura); associated with the color yellow.
Your confidence starts to build as you feel even more deeply rooted in your body and emotions. You feel alive, awake and in your personal power. You feel your yes and no clearly as you learn a new sequence in ZEN∙GA: Power and Strength. Your breath fills your belly in all four corners and you are ready to take on your life with a new zest and attitude.

Heart chakra (Anahata); associated with the colors rose pink and light green.
You are now deeply invested in your Inner IDEA experience and your foundation is strong. As you commit to being in your body and allowing your emotions to flow, your heart—your true power center—begins to open and emit high vibration signals to other attendees. You’re feeling more compassionate, open and willing to connect.

Throat chakra (Vishuddha); associated with the color blue.
You are in your zone and you know it. You’ve rededicated yourself to a new morning ritual: 20 minutes of meditation and writing in your Inner IDEA journal (which happens to be blue). There are so many things you want to verbalize and you decide that today is the day to start speaking your truth with an open heart.

Brow chakra (Ajna); associated with the color indigo.
After taking the Moonlight Meditation session and a contemplative labyrinth walk, you can almost feel your inner vision pulsing. You have a new perspective; a fresh insight. Your intuition softly unfolds before your eyes and you know a new level of trust with yourself and the world.

Crown chakra (Sahasrara); associated with the color violet.
The weekend has drawn to a close and your awareness is at an all-time high. Your body, mind and spirit feel integrated and peaceful. You feel a distinct lack of separateness and an abundance of gratitude.
