I am so excited to start my own Facebook page! Kristen Kindred Personalized Fitness Traning. I hope that people feel comfortable checking it out, writing about their fitness journeys, good or bad and using this as a sounding board to post workouts, get advice, give advice and encourage others.. Getting fit is a constant day to day job. We need to eat clean, take care of our bodies, feel good about ourselves and never stop trying. We are all Worth NOT giving up.. we will have set backs, tons of them actually, but never give up on yourself.. You are the only one in control (besides God) and you can do this!! Get stong, get fit, get healthy, do it for you!!
Its that time of year again that the gyms will be packed and people will start with the greatest intensions to get fit and healthy. We all got new workout gear, rejoined a gym and are ready to go.. Then come feb they gyms get less busy and people get frustrated and give up.. happens every year.. same thing.. so what will make this year different for you? Maybe you can start with small changes, hire a trainer to help you so you don't get injured or frustrated. Even just a few sessions to get you started on the right path? Maybe make small changes in your diet such as limit your sugar and eat more veggies and fruit? How about get a few friends to join your on your new path? Having a partner or friend can really help get things going! When I first started to get back in shape a friend and I started walking, then running, then signing up for races and it was great!!! We motivated and encouraged each other! My wish for anyone reading this is that you have success in this new year! You set realistic goals and follow through! If you have mess ups, as you will. you will get back up and start again!! never giving up!!! Happy New Year!!!
Well, its the middle of November and yes, it is getting cold outside.. I had a client last night at my home gym tell me several time she was " so happy to be working out here, other wise she would be at home snuggled in bed". Its hard to get motivated this time of year, we are busy with holidays, its cold outside, its getting dark at 4:00. We want to be home in our warm houses doing our to do lists and being comfortable. The problem with that is this time of year is also stressful.. which means exercise is imperative! Exercise reduces stress, makes you feel good, look good, and really only takes 30 minutes to an hour of your day. If we start to slack off now.. spring will come and we wont' be ready. I get up at 4:15 am every day. if I am not training a client by 5:00 am, then I am getting in my own workout.. I HAVE too, its not an option for me.. I know how I feel if I don't get it in. Do I like the cold, wet early mornings?? NO!! I would be so warm and cozy staying in bed but I know I NEED to work my body and mind. Just like brushing your teeth, You do that even when its cold outside right? :)) So get up and get your workout in! YOU never regret a workout only one you didn't do:))
I have many clients who are over 40.. one of their concerns is that they "can't do what they used to do physically when they were younger" such as working out as intense as they once did, lift as heavy as they once did run as fast or as long as they once did. Some of my clients were outstanding athletes and now struggle to get it back.. The truth is, as we age, some of us may need to slow it down a little. I will always believe in getting a daily workout in.. its so important, for you mind, body and soul.. its some of the best "therapy" out there! But people get frustrated and even have given up since they "can't be as good as they used to." I am saying DON"T GIVE UP!! Do what you can, push yourself to you max now, at this age, at this time in your life. We don't need to keep living in the past, wishing we were " as good as we used to be".. we all age, get injuries, have set backs.. but keep moving forward.. making the best of what God gave you now.. I was getting really frustrated recenlty regarding having to limit my long distance running due to athritis in my spine.. I was telling a friend that I was getting "depressed about it." She reminded me to be greateful for what I CAN do.. I can do the starmaster for an hour, the jacobs ladder, Precor, lift weights, use bands, balls, walk and squat!! I am stong and healthy and I am grateful for the reminder!!! So keep up your workouts the best you can, make time for them!!
So, due to my back issues I have not run in a while, I have missed it so much.. Of course I have been working out daily but my running has been put on the back burner.. My back has been ok so thats not the issue lately.. it was my "fear" or "anxiety" of getting back into it. Will I mess my back up again? will I fall, will I make my goal of 5 miles today?. Sometimes that hardest part of getting your workouts in or starting a new workout program is the "fear" of failure, or not making it, or not being good at it. I understand and know how that feels!!! It can be scary, dehabiliting and ultimately set you up for not even trying:(( Imagine walking into a gym, thinking everyone is looking at you.. it can be so intimidating!!! I hear you!!! You are not alone!! I don't care if your a newbie, a person who has worked out for years, or a trainer, we have all been there. The fact is you have to just do it.. if we don't face our fears we will keep making excuses, feeling like we can't do it and wont make any progress. Its hard, I know.. I was so anxious about running today, I did it though, it was hard but I did it.. and now I feel great.. my point.. face your fears!! Make that first step, you will only fail if you don't try:))
I have gotten several new contacts and clients recently (which is normal for this time of year) and some of them say the blog is helpful so I am going to try to be more consistent with these:) Life has been busy! Very busy! Single mom raising three boys who are involved in every sport you can think of. Work is crazy busy and just trying to manage it all as well as keep up the healthy eating and exercise, it's not easy! In fact, its down right HARD. I suffered a back injury about a year ago (bulging disc) and it made exercise harder with chronic pain for a while. That was frustrating! But Its much better now and I am training hard again:) One thing my injury reminded me of is to always make sure my diet is as clean as possible.. Why would we kill ourselves in the gym and then go home and eat unhealthy foods that give us no value?? Crazy right? As an athlete there are times you may get injured, pull a muscle etc, where you have to take a short or long rest from exercise, and you are then forced to solely rely on your diet until you are cleared to start training again. As I said before, you need both, diet and exercise. You need to make it a habit, a lifestyle... then when, or if you have a set back, you will still be on track.. I know the weather has been lousy and people are having a difficult time.. But just remember hard work does pay off, live as healthy as you can, exercise even when you don't feel like it and take care of you so you can take care of others:))
Here it is.. who cares about me..
This is about YOU..
What can I do for you??

I just wanted to write down how thankful I am this Thanksgiving.. Always thankful for my amazing family, my mom and dad who have always been my biggest fans.. Even when I have disappointed them they always love me.. To my three amazing boys who at times make me crazy:) they are the loves of my life.. My friends and extended family who I miss dearly.. and my new found friends and clients who have become friends. This business is so rewarding.. Who knew I would meet such amazing people with such interesting lives and stories to tell.. I am humbed that you have entrusted me to listen and watch you grow.. I have seen you become so much stronger, when in our first session you could barely do 5 seconds of up downs and now your pushing out a minute! I have seen push ups transformed and bodies become stronger, weight being lost, muscle gain and self esteem finding its way back. You are empowering me seeing your dedication and hard work!! Thank you for working so hard and for being so amazing!!! Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Ok.. its getting cold, its dark later and earlier.. the urge to stay in bed nice and warm is calling.. this is when it counts.. How many mornings have we woken up lately and thought it was so nice to be tucked in warm in bed... not wanting to get out... well... GET UP and GET WORKING:) I was trying to be mean, yet nice:) don't wait unitl the new year to make resolutions that may only last a few weeks.. Make those life changes NOW, when its hard.. when you want to stay in bed or don't feel like going out in the cold.. if you make those life changes when its hard it will get easier and believe it or not, spring is closer than you think. We will be back at the beach wishing.. just wishing we had gotten out of bed in those early November days:)
