The importance of drinking water

By Nicki Geigert

I see too many clients who need a constant reminder to drink water.  Never mind that fact that in their work out they have lost any where from a pint to a quart of water from sweat.  Not only is hydration important for the muscle tissue, cellular tissue, it is critical for the brain.  It is very easy for someone to pass out after heavy excercise and from improper re-hydration.  If you live in a dry climate it is even more critical to stay hydrated.

Rule of thumb says to drink one ounce of water for every two pounds of body weight.  Many say everyone should drink 8 glasses of water per day.  That's all fine if you don't weigh any more than 130 pounds.  Most men drink far less than they should.  And parents need to teach their children the importance of proper re-hydration.

You can also add a packet of electrolites from any good health food store to help your cells absorb the water more quickly.  Drink up...
