Herpes is a group of viral diseases that are caused by herpes viruses. There are 2 types of herpes viruses; they are HSV-1 and HSV 2. Herpes Simplex Virus type 1 usually results in oral herpes even though in some cases, it may lead into genital herpes. Herpes Simplex Virus type 2 results in genital herpes. Genital herpes is a sexually transmitted disease that usually affects the genitals. Genital herpes is also found on skin in other parts of body. Oral herpes is a very common disease that affects the mouth, lips and gums.
