Many people that are on a weight loss regimen fear the holiday season.  Many athletes have some fear in the holiday season as well.  No one wants to gain unwanted weight during the holiday season, but you also don't want to feel left out of the festivities or should I say "Feast-tivities".  Yes it is those feasts that we fear so much.  We love the food, but if not proactive prior to attending those feasts all heck can break loose on the waist line.

Small changes eventually lead to a healthy lifestyle
That is a question that I never gave much thought until my 17 year old son was diagnosed with Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis, a rare blood disease, that was unheard of 50 years ago.  Why?  Well, I started investigating and what I found out was quite astonishing.  First of all, toxins exist all around us.  After WWII, they didn't really know what to do with all the chemical warfare, so it ended up in agriculture and industry which means the air we breathe is toxic.

To remain the same or to change. To change requires courage, the courage to risk failure, the courage to risk difficulties, and the courage to risk sucess. Change is a process of becoming a new person. So many people take a New Years oath to lose weight.. or to get fit again... or just to get healthy.. But why wait til New Years? Why wait. Find courage and leap!

In life we will always benefit from the expertise of others.  We hire a mechanic so they can discover what's wrong with our car and fix it.  The expertise of a pastry chef is needed to create a cake for you that no box or recipe can possibly offer.  A barber or hair stylist is needed to properly care for your hair.  So why not seek the expertise of a certified personal trainer?

1. Understand Their Cognitive AbilitiesAccording to the American Psychological Association, teens may be emotionally immature, but they have reached cognitive maturity by age 16 (Steinberg et al. 2009). By then they have developed reasoning skills, logical thinking, metacognition (thinking about their thinking) and abstract thinking (Huebner 2012). Don’t talk down to teens; instead, ensure that exercises make sense to them.
