My journey began in Oakland, CA. There was never a time when dance was not a part of my life. It was and is my lifeline. Although I did not take a formal dance class until my first year in college at San Francisco State University, all of the years prior were stepping stones to that first day: Dr. Alberta Rose’s African Haitian Folklore class. It was here that I discovered several different types of dance as they related to Haitian culture. Once these melodious beats began, so did life. Along the way, I also mastered many other exciting rhythms of dance such as Jazz, Caribbean, African, and Samba. Upon completion of my studies, I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Black Studies and Behavior and Social Science with a Minor in Dance. It was also during this time that my passion for fitness developed. This passion led to over ten successful years of personal and resistance training. To balance these worlds of dance and fitness, I earned several certifications including NESTA, ISSA, and AFFA. My target clients are the youths, athletes, people who are interested in being healthy, disabled, (pre, and post)pregnant, and the elderly. In addition, I possess certifications as a Fitness Trainer/Instructor, Youth Fitness Trainer, Endurance Fitness Trainer, and Specialist in Fitness for Older Adults. I am currently working on attaining my Master’s in Education and continues to broaden my spectrum by attending several other fitness related programs studying Kinesiology and Biomechanics. More recently, I have devoted myself to the health needs of our young people. As we all know, youth obesity has become a crises and it requires immediate attention. I have stepped in and added teacher to my list of accomplishments. Working closely with youngsters, I have outlined a program of fitness activities targeted to benefit our youth.
